PARAPROFESSIONAL CERTIFICATION
The NCLB Act identifies three ways to become certified as a
Paraprofessional:
- Pass a designated test
- Earn an Associates Degree
- Earn 60 credit hours
Kirtland Community College can help with all three!
NCLB Option 1
WorkKeys® Assessments: Take the tests!
Paraprofessionals can become certified by the Michigan Department of
Education using the ACT WorkKeys® Applied Math, Reading for Information
and Writing skills assessments. To schedule an appointment for testing,
contact M-TEC at (989) 705-3600.

NCLB Option 2
Improve your skills with specific instruction
If you take the tests and do not achieve the desired scores, specific
instruction is available to improve your skills. Re-testing is
available.
NCLB Option 3
Earn a Kirtland Associate Degree or complete 60 credit hours
