NO CHILD LEFT BEHIND

PARAPROFESSIONAL CERTIFICATION

The NCLB Act identifies three ways to become certified as a Paraprofessional:

  • Pass a designated test
  • Earn an Associates Degree
  • Earn 60 credit hours

Kirtland Community College can help with all three!

NCLB Option 1

WorkKeys® Assessments: Take the tests!

Paraprofessionals can become certified by the Michigan Department of Education using the ACT WorkKeys® Applied Math, Reading for Information and Writing skills assessments. To schedule an appointment for testing, contact M-TEC at (989) 705-3600.

NCLB Option 2

Improve your skills with specific instruction

If you take the tests and do not achieve the desired scores, specific instruction is available to improve your skills. Re-testing is available.

NCLB Option 3

Earn a Kirtland Associate Degree or complete 60 credit hours

Please call Don Dyer at 989.275.5000, ext. 231 to set up an appointment for academic advising on the Associate Degree.
